Terrific 2’s

Our youngest preschoolers concentrate on learning shapes, colors, letters and numbers. All the while, they’re flexing their growing imagination and social skills through educational play, such as manipulatives (i.e., activities promoting healthy coordination and motor skill development), Learning Centers and storytelling. Older two year olds begin to learn basic Spanish.

Our two-year-old program begins to leverage the A Beka Book curriculum to support children’s growing independence with guided learning. At the same time, they’re encouraged to explore deeper interactions with their peers and teachers through group play and activities.

This is a time of great social and emotional transition for your child. Throughout our day, we focus on the importance of using appropriate words to express thoughts, needs and emotions while modeling important behavior concepts like sharing, respect, responsibility and kindness.

Talented 3’s

Three year olds step into more structured learning focused on mastering skills through Learning Centers, such as art, computers, books, puzzles and advanced manipulatives. Fun, interactive lessons on letters, phonics, numbers and skills are drawn from the research-based A Beka Book curriculum. With the guidance of our teachers, they build on budding literacy skills in our comprehensive library and reading area.

All three year olds dive into language exploration by learning Spanish. Throughout all this learning, teachers support three year olds’ emerging independence by helping them build relationships with others, negotiate conflicts and establish meaningful friendships.

Play continues to be an important way of learning for our three year olds. They build confidence, learn important social skills and develop critical motor skills through dedicated music and movement, story time and game time.

Fantastic 4’s & 5’s

Four year olds are eager to understand how the world works. Using the A Beka Book curriculum and building on children’s imagination and curiosity, we continue to introduce them to new lessons in handwriting, mathematics and reading. Our Learning Centers strengthen literacy and math skills, while lessons on science and social studies ignite children’s interest in learning about the world around them.

Games, music and movement lessons, arts and crafts, ongoing Spanish language instruction and our DEAR program (Drop Everything And Read) keep children moving and learning through guided, creative play all afternoon.

At four, the concept of community and character begins to take hold. In this group, we work on building character – promoting honesty, compassion, generosity, sharing and caring. Our positive reinforcement helps ensure children continue to use words to solve problems with peers, make positive choices and begin to form meaningful friendships.

Our Schedule

We Play

All of our classes spend time climbing, sliding, riding, running and exploring our outdoor play area every day (weather permitting). To keep kids moving, exploring and imagining, our playground is home to a variety of age appropriate equipment, riding toys and a playhouse.

We Eat Healthy

We provide every child with carefully planned, freshly prepared meals and snacks, all according to strict nutritional guidelines and organically sourced whenever possible. Because every child is unique inside and out, we dutifully respect special dietary restrictions or diet modifications.

We Rest

And after all this fun, children enjoy a daily quiet time while resting or napping on mats with dimmed lights and soft music. We believe that this is a vital part of young children’s growth.

Summer Curriculum

At Oxford, summer means fun…and learning! In our fun-filled, adventure-driven summer program, our year-round highly trained teachers amp up the fun while keeping your child engaged in an exciting, creative and adventurous learning program.

Guided by the Abeka summer curriculum, our summer program integrates fun, creativity, and adventure and education with weekly themes like Children and Cultures of the World, Sports and Physical Fitness, The Circus, Under the Sea, Community Helpers, Pets and Animals, and even holiday specific themes such as Independence Day.

Children will spend their days exploring new topics, playing fun games and experiencing learning in a whole new way!

Special events and on-site field trips are also offered throughout the program. Children can run, play and explore during activities such as the Tumble Bus, a petting zoo, a Smyrna Fire truck visit and safety demonstration, puppet theater shows, picnics, outdoor games and water play, an ice cream social, pajama and character dress-up days and more!
